Are you trying to find the best invisible fence for your Labrabull?
You’ve come to the right place! I’ve researched options across price ranges and styles to help you find the best option for your needs.
Here are some important things to know about my list:
- ALL invisible fence products require training. You will need to follow the training guide included or work with a professional to help your dog understand the invisible fence boundary. Without training, these products won’t be effective, which is a waste of your money!
- Invisible fences usually use static input (electric shocks) to prompt your dog to stay inside the boundary. If you’re uncomfortable with this training method, some of the invisible fences below may not be for you. However, some of the options use sound or vibration instead.
- There are two main types of invisible fences for Labrabulls – Wireless and Wired.
-
- Wireless invisible fences work with GPS by alerting your dog that they’ve crossed a certain distance from the transmitter. There are no cables to bury, and setup is usually quick and easy. However, these options are usually more technologically advanced and more expensive.
-
- Wired invisible fences involve burying cable along your boundary line. They can take some time to set up, but they’re durable and completely customized to your property. They tend to be cheaper than wireless options.
#1. SpotOn GPS Wireless Fence
COMPARE PRICES!
The SpotOn GPS Dog Fence gives you the safety benefits of an invisible fence for your Labrabull without the hassle of a wired, underground system. The collar connects to your smartphone, enabling you to set a customized boundary. Unlike other systems where the boundary is round or square, you get to draw the “fence” in any shape you prefer. Furthermore, you can have MULTIPLE fences saved, such as one that lets your dog have a larger area to roam during the day and another option that keeps them closer to home at night.
Another benefit of the SpotOn GPS Dog Fence is the ability to manage everything from your phone. In addition to creating each individual fence on your phone, you can turn which fence you want on and off with just a few taps. You can also keep tabs on your dog from ANYWHERE by receiving alerts and real-time tracking if your Labrabull leaves the yard!
Positives:
- A fully customizable boundary shape gives added flexibility.
- Creating the fence line on your phone is easy. You walk your property with the app open, and the boundary is created!
- The optional cellular plan allows you to connect to your pet from anywhere.
- GPS design is easy to set up compared to buried cable designs. Press PLAY below to see how it works!
Negatives:
- EXPENSIVE! This is the most expensive system on our list.
- As with any invisible fence system, training is important. Make sure you have the time to train your pet before you commit!
- The collar is self-contained, so if you have more than one dog, you must purchase a collar for each pet.
#2. Halo 2+ Wireless Dog Fence
The Halo 2+ Wireless Dog Fence combines a GPS Collar with an app on your smartphone, allowing you to create boundaries in different locations. One of the benefits of Halo 2+ is that you can create boundaries in public places. This gives your Labrabull freedom and safety in dog parks or hiking trails. Watch this video to learn more about setting up virtual fences with Halo Collars!
This system also comes with a training guide created by Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer. In your kit, you’ll receive the GPS Collar and training beacons that allow you to create “zones” for your pets to avoid. Plus, you will find the instructions for setting up the app on your smartphone and creating customized boundaries.
Positives:
- Boundaries are customizable and portable, and you can have more than one location.
- Easy setup on your phone with no messy digging or waiting for an installer.
- A complete training program is included.
- The communication types are customizable, so if you want to use vibration only instead of static correction, you can.
Negatives:
- This set is one of the most expensive wireless fences on the list.
- The collar is self-contained, so if you have more than one dog, you must purchase a collar for each pet.
- Monthly plan membership is required, ranging from $4.49-$29.99 per month.
#3. Petsafe Stay & Play Wireless Fence
COMPARE PRICES!
The Petsafe Stay & Play Wireless Fence is an affordable invisible fence for Labrabulls with many benefits. First, it’s portable, so you can use this system anywhere as long as you have an outlet. Instead of connecting to your smartphone, the Petsafe Stay & Play has a transmitter that connects directly to your dog’s collar. So, this may be a good option for you if you’re less tech-savvy or don’t want to use your phone for this purpose. Take a look at the setup instructions here for more information.
The step-by-step instructions and training manual make setup and training an easy process. One thing to note, however, is that the boundary shape is not customizable. You can adjust the size of the boundary from 20-90 ft, but the shape will always be round. This means that the corners of your property will likely fall outside the boundary, while some edges might overlap your property slightly.
Positives:
- AFFORDABLE: This is the least expensive wireless invisible fence on our list.
- Easy setup with no need for a smartphone or internet.
- A training guide, training tools, and a setup guide are included.
Negatives:
- The boundary shape for this fence is round, so you may have difficulty getting it to fit inside your property.
#4. SportDog In-ground Fence Systems
COMPARE PRICES!
SportDog In-ground Fence Systems works by creating an invisible fence with buried cable. The training program helps you teach your dog to stay within the boundary, and alerts help to guide them back if they accidentally cross it. A combination of sound, vibration, and static input is used to communicate with the dog. The cable installation process can take some time, but luckily the SportDog’s fence system only requires that the cable be buried a few inches underground.
One of the best features of the SportDog System is how customizable it is. The cable can be laid in any shape, allowing you to control the size and shape completely. In addition, the same fencing system can support an unlimited number of collars, meaning this fence will work no matter how many furry friends you have! Best of all, you can connect the cable to create a boundary of up to 100 acres! The setup kit comes with 1,000 ft of cable, enough for a one-acre yard.
Positives:
- This system is fully customizable, from size to shape and number of dogs.
- Like most in-ground systems, SportDog is more cost-effective than wireless invisible fences.
- A training guide, training tools, and a setup guide are included.
Negatives:
- The initial setup takes more time because you need to bury the boundary cable.
#5. Petsafe YardMax In-Ground Fence
COMPARE PRICES!
The Petsafe YardMax In-Ground Fence is easy to use and relatively simple to install. The system includes a receiver you plug into the wall, the underground cable, and a collar. The flags pictured are used for training purposes, then taken down once your pet gets used to the invisible fence.
Petsafe offers many options for layouts on its website, making this wired fence easy to customize. You might notice that PetSafe has quite a few different options when it comes to invisible fences for Labrabulls. One thing to remember is that this YardMax system doesn’t work with other options they offer. For example, the collars that come with the Stay and Play system mentioned earlier DO NOT work with this YardMax system, and vice versa.
Another great reason to purchase a Petsafe system is this company’s excellent customer service. They have a knowledgeable, friendly staff full of animal lovers who genuinely want to make sure you’re happy.
Positives:
- You can customize the size and shape of the boundary and add more collars if you have more pets.
- Like most in-ground systems, YardMax is more cost-effective than wireless invisible fences.
- A training guide, training tools, and a setup guide are included.
Negatives:
- The initial setup takes more time because you need to bury the boundary cable.
- YardMax by Petsafe is a self-contained system and doesn’t work with other Petsafe products.

The Extreme Dog Fence is an in-ground fencing system made in the United States. It has enough wire to cover a 1/3-acre yard, but you can buy additional wire to cover up to six acres! The heavy-duty wire and collar are durable and long-lasting. In fact, one of the best features of this system is that the collar is waterproof up to ten feet deep! No need to worry if your pup likes to swim because this system can handle it.
Another great feature of the Extreme Dog Fence system is that there’s no need to download an app for your phone or purchase a special monitor because everything you need to get the system working is included in the box. A transmitter plugs into any outlet, and once the cable is installed, you’re ready to begin training! This video overview will give you all the information you need to decide if the Extreme Dog Fence is right for you!
